Once upon a semester dreary, while I translated weak and weary.
A curious volume of scientific medical lore.
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
The professor kept asking: "write the perspectives you are having" , as a translator just once more.
My ideas are all spent, I shall write nevermore.

The Scientific and Technical Translation in English subject has once more showed itself a terribly challenging class. In this last week I had to translate a text by myself for the first time. Obviously, we could still use tools during this process, but this did not make things easier. However, this was a delightful experience, because it made me rethink translation, since now I'm seeing the major importance of my class comrads. So here I will expose my tranlation of this text.

This was my first time translating a text, and it was a great experience since I had the opportunity to work with other students. I would say the process of discussion is essential to translation. Furthermore, I had the possibility to learn about different programs, websites and tools, which are extremely helpful in the process of translating. Still, these apparatus make this activity quite faster and better in many ways. In the end of this post I will be presenting the final version of our class translation.

Writing was never the easiest English competence to me. However, the classes I’m taking this semester are helping me a lot (writing VI, writing V and scientific and technical translation in English). This period I decided to choose subjects that would help with my main difficulties, and also learn something new as translating. Hence, in this subject I have learned not only how to construct a good text, with cohesion and coherence, but also how a text should be organized. Furthermore, I l have learned to think about writing/translating in deeper level, seeing the constructions behind the text. And also, how to deal with translation of texts that are not well constructed or organized. I believe this is happening because this subject pushes us, by making the activities harder and challenging. Although, I have learned this much, I still think I need some improvement. Thus, just because I have developed some skills does not mean I am an amazing translator.
